Claude now has two new ways to turn work into a visual artifact: a dashboard built from connected company data, and an editable animation for explaining an idea. Anthropic announced Claude Dashboards and Claude Motion in beta on October 8, alongside moving Docs, Slides, and Design out of beta. The practical distinction is simple: Dashboards helps explore and monitor data; Motion turns existing ideas and material into code-based animated explainers.
What Anthropic announced
Claude Dashboards is in beta on paid plans. It can connect to supported data platforms and CRM tools, then create a dashboard from a plain-language question. Claude Motion is in beta on Team and Enterprise plans and creates short animations that users can edit and download as MP4 files. Docs, Slides, and Design are no longer labeled beta and are available on every Claude plan, including Free.
Availability and organization controls are part of the announcement. Anthropic says Dashboards and Motion are off by default for Enterprise organizations; admins can turn them on under Organization settings → Artifacts. Docs, Slides, and Design are set to turn on by default for Enterprise on October 15, though admins can enable them earlier.
Claude Dashboards: ask questions of business data
Dashboards lets a user ask a question about company information and receive a visual result instead of starting with a ticket or a hand-written query. Anthropic lists connections to Amazon Redshift, BigQuery, ClickHouse, Databricks, and Snowflake, as well as CRM data such as Salesforce. It also says Dashboards works with other connectors.
The source article gives examples such as comparing this week’s signups with last month or reviewing Salesforce opportunities. A chart can show the query behind a number, and Claude can explain it. Each chart also shows when its data was last refreshed, which is useful context: a dashboard is only as current as its connected data and refresh state.
Anthropic says a dashboard can be sent to Amplitude, Grafana, Hex, Mixpanel, Omni, Perplexity, PostHog, or Sigma for further analysis. Looker, monday.com, and Tableau are described as coming soon, not as currently available destinations.
This makes Dashboards suited to quick, exploratory questions alongside a team’s analytics stack. It does not remove the need to control connector access, check query logic, confirm refresh timing, and preserve the existing warehouse or BI system as the source of record.
Claude Motion: make an editable animated explainer
Motion takes a prompt and creates an animation for material such as a quarterly report, a chart in a board deck, or a product walkthrough. Anthropic says users can edit it in an editor or ask Claude to revise it, then download the result as an MP4.
The implementation is different from a text-to-video generator. Anthropic describes Motion as code that animates text, charts, shapes, and images. Users can adjust words, values, and timing. The company says the feature does not generate video footage or AI-generated people. That approach fits explainers where the figures, labels, and timing need to stay editable and reviewable.
Anthropic also names Adobe, Descript, HeyGen, Higgsfield, InVideo, Luma AI, and Runway as places to take an animation further, with Canva and Captions listed as coming soon.
Docs, Slides, and Design move out of beta
The October 8 update also makes Claude Docs, Slides, and Design generally available on every Claude plan, including Free. Anthropic says its users have created more than 45 million documents, decks, and designs since introducing the tools in conversations; that is Anthropic’s figure, not an independent usage audit.
For Enterprise organizations, Artifacts now supports customer-managed encryption keys, and administrators can select which templates are enabled. The announcement also describes team editing, sharing outside the organization when permitted by admin settings, formatted PowerPoint and PDF exports, editable handoff to Google Slides, and editing documents, decks, and designs in Claude’s mobile app.
Those controls matter more than the beta label for teams assessing adoption. Confirm the plan, admin setting, data handling, and sharing policy for your organization rather than assuming every feature is enabled by default.
Claude Design is moving into Claude
Claude Design is now available within Claude conversations, where Anthropic says it can use the conversation’s context, files, and connectors. The standalone claude.ai/design site remains available until December 14, 2026, giving teams time to transition.
Anthropic’s migration guidance says teams can use Artifacts → Migrate team design systems to bring over their organization’s design systems. Existing systems remain unchanged in the standalone version until it closes. Projects can keep working there until that date, but chats and comments will not be available afterward, and public links to standalone projects will stop working.
If your team has shared Design projects, treat this as a migration task: identify project owners, move the shared design systems, preserve any useful conversations or comments elsewhere, and replace public links before the cutoff.
What teams should test before relying on these tools
- For Dashboards: confirm which source accounts Claude can access, whether the generated query matches the intended metric, and when the data was last refreshed.
- For Motion: check every figure, label, and timing in the editable animation before sharing or exporting it.
- For Artifacts: review Enterprise defaults, customer-managed key requirements, template availability, and external-sharing permissions with your administrator.
- For Claude Design: schedule migration before December 14 and preserve discussions or public references that will not carry over.
These features can shorten the path from a question or rough idea to a visual deliverable, but they do not replace data governance, editorial review, or analytics validation.
